ELDAR DJANGIROV
Thursday, July 30 — 08:00 PM — CGCC — Purchase Tickets

Pianist Eldar Djangirov has accomplished something that the vast majority of jazz artists, pianists or otherwise, will never accomplish: He landed a contract with a major label and received a GRAMMY nomination before he could have a drink. In 2001, Eldar took top prize in the jazz piano competition of the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. The following year, he won first place in the Peter Nero Piano Competition. At 22, Eldar has recorded five albums. Three are with Sony Classical, including the 2008 GRAMMY-nominated album for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, Re-Imagination. Hear the jazz phenomenon known as Eldar, when he appears on the 2009 Summer Concert with the Eldar Djangirov Trio. You’ll be amazed, guaranteed!

“Few musicians on any axe swing like Eldar…his groove is intense and overwhelming. . . substance within and beyond his pyrotechnics.”
Downbeat

“Formidable technique wedded to a mature grasp of musical structure.”
