Acclaimed for her extraordinary lyricism, technique and versatility, GRAMMY Award winner Sharon Isbin has been hailed as “the pre-eminent guitarist of our time.” Winner of the Madrid, Toronto, and Munich Competitions, and Guitar Player’s “Best Classical Guitarist” award, Ms. Isbin made history as the first classical guitarist to receive a GRAMMY in 28 years, for her Dreams of a World album. She received a 2005 Latin GRAMMY nomination for “Best Classical Album” and a 2006 GLAAD Award nomination as “Outstanding Music Artist” for her Billboard Top 10 Classical disc with the New York Philharmonic. Most recently, she is featured on Howard Shore’s 2008 GRAMMY-nominated soundtrack CD for The Departed. You’ll want to hear this 2009 Summer Concert event with Sharon Isbin: an intimate evening of music by Leo Brouwer, Granados, Tárrega and Albéniz, among others. A special highlight will be John Duarte’s hauntingly beautiful Joan Baez Suite, Op. 144.
“In her hands the guitar takes on the precision of a diamond, each note a clear, shining facet that catches, prism-like, a glint of the spectrum.”
The New York Times
“Her instrument speaks with a thousand colors . . . positively hypnotic.”
